National Schools Film Week is the largest free event for schools, home-educated families and cinemas in the world.

It is a curriculum linked UK-wide film festival programmed exclusively for school groups and home-educated families that takes place across the UK the week preceding the October/November half term holiday with an impressive spread of venues, schools, films and events.

No admission fees are payable by any attendees.

Established in 1996, National Schools Film Week contributes to achieving Film Education’s purpose through:

• supporting classroom teaching by providing teachers and pupils with a powerful link directly to elements of the curriculum
• exposing pupils to the rich social, cultural and enjoyable experience of viewing films in the cinema
• making learning relevant and fun
• encouraging participants to support local cinemas and genuine content
• foster mutually beneficial relations between cinema operators and local schools
