We understand how important it is that school trips combine powerful educational experiences with real value for money. Here you’ll find all you need to know about how the festival benefits teaching and learning.

More than just a free cinema screening

  • all films shown during the festival are selected in consultation with teachers to directly support teaching and learning
  • films on offer range from recent releases to classics, documentaries, foreign language films and more
  • films are screened during the school day: the cinema becomes an extension of the classroom
  • schools can bring as many groups and attend as many screenings as they like, with films for all ages and a wide range of curriculum areas
  • supporting curriculum-linked resources for films screened during the festival are available through the Film Education website
  • many screenings are enhanced by curriculum linked film introductions, workshops and masterclasses as well as educationally relevant resources
