Young Film Critic Competition 2012/2013

Winners of the Young Film Critic 2011

Film Education invites all teachers to get their classes involved with this year’s Young Film Critic competition, which builds on the excitement and enjoyment of watching a film on the big screen.

The competition gives students an excellent opportunity to hone their critical and creative skills and to share their response to a film with judges working in the industry.  All nominees receive goody bags and are invited to a glitzy award ceremony at BAFTA in central London, where they have the chance of winning some great prizes.

Students are invited to submit a review of a film they have seen at the cinema in the last year, whether during National Schools Film Week or independently.

What’s more, entries can be submitted either in written format, or as filmed pieces, making this a great opportunity for budding writers and budding presenters or filmmakers alike.

The website for the competition features:

  • supporting resources on how to write a film review
  • top tips for how to create a filmed entry
  • winning entries from previous years
  • photos from this year’s plush award ceremony in central London
